Key of being happy: Be optimistic

Chan Oi Ting( 6C )

A recent survey showed that quite a few youngsters in Hong Kong are feeling unhappy about their lives.

Only 5 per cent of those interviewed thought that they are not in misery. This was shocking news .

When I first read this news, I was quite puzzled by the result of the survey since I really do not have any idea about the reason that they feel upset.

In my mind, youngsters are very optimistic and feel that their lives are enjoyable. Compared with the living standards in the Philippines, that in Hong Kong is relatively high.

The reason might be youngsters in the SAR are too nervous and desire too much. These contribute to a great pressure.

The key to be a happy person is to be optimistic.  There must be something which is unexpected or undesired in our lives.

However, there is no use feeling upset.  If we just feel depressed and did nothing about the problems we meet, it won't be solved. Worse still, the problems would become more and more serious.

What we have to do is to face the problem.  And, do not think it so serious that we do not have the ability to solve it. Being optimistic, you would find the problems less serious and easier to tolerate.

Desiring too much can also be a factor of desperateness.  I don't mean that we should not have any dreams.  To some degree, having a dream is good for us since it can propel us to work hard for it.

We should set out target based on the real situation.  So we can have the chance to get the accolades we deserve.

To eliminate pressures, there are many ways.  For example, doing exercise, chatting with your best friends or family, and, most importantly, take more rest. Sleeping can be oneof the best ways to reduce stress.       It is indispensable to enjoy our lives.  So we can also enjoy our school lifes, our relationships with friends and families and whatever!  Remember, just keep your smile anytime!
