Remember Suzanne’s brave struggle

Lui Man Hon (2B2)

MANY schoolboys and girls think of committing suicide and I don't think what they are doing is right, for life is precious.

Recently I read a book "Girl Against the Jungle". It is about a girl Suzanne and her mother flying form Lima Peru back to their home in Pucallpa. Suddenly there is a storm and the plane crashes. With her mother dead, Suzanne is left alone in a South American jungle.

is a true story of how the girl struggled through 10 days to stay alive.

did Suzanne keep herself alive in the jungle?

She held on till the very end and initially made three wise decisions.

First she followed the river as many people live on its banks. Also she never stepped into the river infested with piranhas and alligators.

Second she found a stick to scare away snakes and insects.

Third, she killed all the maggots left by flied. If she had failed to kill them, they would have killed her. So Suzanne kept herself alive in the jungle through 10 days of hard struggle.

She was very brave and lucky. If one remembers Suzanne’s story, there would not be any suicides.
