Does the ban ring a bell?

When our school principal banned the use of mobile phones on the campus, many students got very upset. Being a student, I must admit that using a mobile phone makes life a bit easier at school. However, I must also admit that there is more harm than good in using mobile phones at school. Why?

Everyone will agree that mobile phones are expensive, right? It is also true that most students cannot afford to have one. In my view it it a waste of money. So, why don't students use that money to buy some reference books?

Yes, it is true that your parents may buy the phone for you, but why don't you help your parents save their hard-earned money?

Besides, as I mentioned, mobile phones are expensive. Some students may even steal their schoolmates' phones out of greed. I can say with certainty that if you bring your phone to school, the chances of your phone being stolen or lost are great.

Worse still, the models change frequently. So, a student may be tempted to abandon an old model or replace it every time a new model arrives in the market. There is a superiority complex among these students with the latest mobile phones. It is an extremely unhealthy habit. Sometimes, students may be tempted to steal other people's mobile phones as they are more attractive.

The ban is inevitable. We cannot be allowed to use the phones during lessons. Furthermore, the phones come with some advanced functions such as games and WAP. Students may spend their time playing games and even surfing the Internet when the teacher is teaching in the class. So how can they learn anything?

You go to school to learn. So, why should you bring the phones to school? Some of you may say that you need to contact your friends. However, your friends are supposed to be students, too! Why do you want to disturb others during lessons with a phone call? In fact, your call may also disturb other classmates. Therefore, we must ban mobile phones at schools.

By doing so, the cases of stealing mobile phones will never happen. Students will not compare their mobile phones with those of others. They can save some money and they may also pay more attention in the class. I hope all of you can understand why the principal needs to ban the use of mobile phones in the school. Remember, the move is only meant to help you, not to hurt you.
